:car running? Retarded timing raises ext temps. then you have to lower your exhaust temps by dumping fuel. its ok to move timing around, so long as you keep temps in check
Advance lowers it but puts more heat in the combustion chamber. if your EGTs are reading 900C, then your combustion chamber is seeing 950C +... I hear thats good for pistons and valves... regardless of where your put your timing.
